PALETO BAY — What began as a police investigation into suspected narcotics activity in Paleto Bay quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation, leaving one suspect dead, a bystander injured, and more than 30 bricks of heroin in police custody.

The investigation was led primarily by Lieutenant Michael Anderson and Officer Davis Paul, who are credited with uncovering the suspected drug operation and locating a substantial quantity of heroin.

Authorities recovered more than 30 bricks of heroin, all of which were taken into evidence as investigators began documenting the scene and processing the suspected narcotics.

The situation quickly turned dangerous when the suspect attempted to flee from officers.

According to the preliminary account, the attempted escape ultimately ended with the suspect being killed. The exact circumstances surrounding the suspect's death remain part of the ongoing investigation.

During the chaos, an uninvolved bystander was also shot. The victim was transported for medical treatment. Authorities have not yet released the individual's condition or identity.

The incident took another turn when the bystander's vehicle was reportedly stolen, leaving investigators with an additional crime to investigate as they worked to secure the scene.

Lieutenant Anderson and Officer Paul remain at the center of the investigation, having been the primary officers who uncovered the narcotics operation and initiated the events that led to the massive seizure.

With more than 30 bricks of heroin now in evidence and multiple crimes stemming from the incident, investigators are expected to continue working to determine where the narcotics came from, who else may have been involved, and whether additional suspects remain at large.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect or provided additional details regarding the injured bystander.
