Vespucci Beach, San Andreas - September 21, 2026
The Vespucci Beach Police Department is beginning a new chapter under the leadership of Chief Kevin Hamilton, with the department placing renewed emphasis on professional policing, community engagement, and strengthening its relationship with neighboring public safety agencies.
Chief Hamilton recently outlined his expectations for the department and its officers, emphasizing that while Vespucci beach remains a relatively small jurisdiction, the size of the community should not determine the standard of service provided to its residents and visitors.
"We may be a small jurisdiction, but that does not mean we should provide a small level of service. My goal is to make sure every officer within this department has the training, information, technology, and resources necessary to handle whatever situation may come through our jurisdiction." Said Chief Kevin Hamilton.
One of the department's immediate priorities is strengthening cooperation with the Village of Vespucci Beach.
Hamilton said he is working with city officials to ensure the Vespucci Beach Police Department has access to appropriate and up to date technology, information, and other resources that can be made available to the department.
The cooperation is expected to provide the smaller department with additional support while allowing Vespucci Beach officers to remain capable of handling incidents within their own jurisdiction.
"I want our officers to be prepared to handle situations independently, but I also recognize the importance of working with our neighboring agencies. We are going to use every resource available to us to make Vespucci Beach safer." Said Chief Kevin Hamilton.
Additional information regarding departmental resources, procedures, and operational capabilities is expected to be released as those resources become available.
The department's approach to vehicle pursuits is also expected to be a significant component of its operational policies.
Under the department's planned pursuit policy, officers will not initiate or continue vehicle pursuits unless the underlying offense involves a violent misdemeanor or felony offense.
The policy is intended to limit unnecessary risks to members of the public, officers, and other emergency personnel while still allowing officers to pursue suspects when circumstances involve serious or violent criminal conduct.
Hamilton described the policy as part of the department's broader effort to ensure officers balance enforcement responsibilities with public safety.
"Our job is to protect people, not put them in unnecessary danger. There will be circumstances where immediate apprehension is necessary, but we have to consider the risks involved with every decision we make." Said Chief Kevin hamilton.
For now, the Chief's message is centered on preparation, professionalism, accountability, and ensuring that officers are ready to respond when the Village needs them.
Weazle News will continue to follow developments within the Vespucci Beach Police Department as the agency's new direction takes shape.
